Lacey & Justin {Married}
Weddings, Posted on: May, 10
High school sweethearts! I met Lacey and Justin a…ahem…few years back when they were in high school at our church and I was a youth leader. (Makes me feel old that my youth kids are getting married!) I saw them start dating, grow up together, and become adults in what seemed like a matter of days. It’s so rewarding to see the awesome people they’ve become. Lacey excels at cooking, working with kids, and is crazy creative. Justin is lighthearted, outgoing, and so fun to be around. We had such a great time on their wedding day, and I felt so honored to be a part of it. Here are some highlights from their big day.
Katie & Chris {Married}
Weddings, Posted on: Apr, 30
Well we sure started off the 2012 wedding season with a bang! I’m sure I’ll never forget Katie and Chris’s tornado-y wedding day. But weather aside, this gorgeous couple immediately felt like old friends. We hadn’t met before their wedding day, but it didn’t seem like it! We had to sneak in just a few outdoor photos between the ceremony and reception before all the crazy weather hit, but when you look as good as they did, they made my job easy. I could go on and on about how nice and accommodating their whole family was (they even sat me by the mother-of-the bride for dinner!) but that would take several blog posts.
Suffice it to say…awesome wedding, awesome couple, awesome day. Here are some highlights!
Tornadoes at a Wedding
GDP News , Misc , Personal , Weddings, Posted on: Apr, 15
We live in Kansas…so I guess it was inevitable.
Even so, I never dreamed the events of last night would really happen. But they did, and it was crazy, but pretty amazing at the same time.
Last night, I was photographing Katie and Chris’s gorgeous wedding in Salina (full wedding blog post will come soon). All day, we’d been battling wind and rain, and we’d heard that tornadoes might make an appearance in the evening. Katie and Chris were AWESOME and totally embraced the attitude of “We can’t do anything about it, so why freak out?” They were so calm and easy-going about it all.
Shortly after arriving at their reception, the DJ announced that there was a tornado headed our way and that we all needed to take shelter in the basement locker rooms and golf club cart storage rooms. All 200+ guests and vendors headed to the basement of the country club, where we proceeded to spend the next 40 minutes waiting it out. I took a photo of the bride and I while we were hunkered down, talking about how great this story will be for their kids.
Wasn’t Katie a beautiful bride?!
Everything passed very anti-climatically, and we were all so thankful. Dinner and dancing resumed, and everyone had an amazing time. Just as my time there came to an end, I received several texts and voicemails from my family telling me to get out of Salina now or to spend the night there. I chose to speed home.
After I’d been on the highway about an hour, surrounded by crazy fast winds and un-ending lightning, I found I was sandwiched in between storms, and there was a second one headed towards Salina, and one on the way to Wichita. I made sure my husband Adam and baby Sutton were safe in our basement and stopped midway between the storms in Newton, where I ended up having to stay the night to avoid driving straight into a tornado warning.
I heard reports that 80-90 tornadoes were confirmed in Kansas yesterday, with the biggest one touching down in Wichita. There was some damage, but thank God no one was killed. Salina inhabitants were lucky as well, and I got a couple texts from Katie saying her night was fantastic and everyone was there good.
Craziness…but definitely a night no one will ever forget!
Natalie + Steve {Married}
Weddings, Posted on: Feb, 07
One of my very dear friends was married last month just after the New Year, and what an amazing day it was! Natalie was so excited to be marrying Steve…we caught some awesome expressions on her face throughout the day. I was so blessed to be able to be their photographer, and they went out of their way to make sure I felt like family. After makeup at Sephora (which I’d never been in before…AH…heaven!), we headed to the church to get Natalie hitched. We had lots of time in between the ceremony and reception for photos and then ended the big day dancing the night away. Love you two…Natalie, I hope you’re having lots of fun in Michigan while Steve is becoming a doctor! Here are some highlights of their wedding day.
Julie & Kendall {Married}
Weddings, Posted on: Jan, 20
I first met Julie and Kendall in 2009 at Julie’s sister Kara’s wedding. They seemed so young then, but here we are 2 1/2 years later and they’re married! This beautiful couple had an amazing New Year’s Eve wedding and we totally lucked out with weather in the 50s for their big day. You might remember that Julie did a workshop with me a couple weeks before her wedding…it was so cool to get to know her one-on-one before her big day, I felt like part of the family. As a photographer, Julie placed photos high on her list of importance, so we had lots of time before the ceremony to get some great shots of her and Kendall, as well as the wedding party.
Congratulations, Julie and Kendall! You had the perfect wedding, filled with so much love…I wish you two the best and hope to keep in touch!

Helloooooooooooooooo friends!
How is everyone holding up after the holidays? My belt got quite a bit tighter due to all the Christmas goodies, so…………I’m working on that.
I just wanted to update you all on portrait sessions for this spring and summer. I will be drastically limiting the number of sessions that I book each week since my 2012 wedding schedule is awesomely ridiculous. In order to keep my sanity and to be able to see my hubby and baby boy once in awhile, weekends are not available for portrait sessions, and week day sessions will be limited.
I’m already starting to book for spring and summer, so if you’d like to get on my calendar, please contact me today! Thanks so much for understanding…Happy 2012!

Kati & Chris {Married}
Weddings, Posted on: Dec, 02
Kati and Chris were married about a month ago on a windy Kansas day in Pratt. It was such a beautiful wedding with amazing people everywhere! I felt so welcomed by the families and friends and almost joined in the grand march at the reception. Kati and I went to high school together, so it was neat to know a lot of the bridesmaids and guests. After their ceremony, we had the privilege of stopping at Kati’s aunt’s country home for photos of the wedding party and couple. These groomsmen gave me a run for my money! I even had my picture taken with the groom (I’ll spare you). They were a lot of fun. Chris treats Kati with such respect and love, I would just watch them interact throughout the day and their love was so evident. Here’s a sneak peek into their big day! Congrats Kati and Chris, thanks for choosing me to capture your wedding.
