Several weeks ago, I had a Group-Shop {Camera Edition} here at my studio. It was a fantastic little group of awesome people and we got to talk shop all day long and then go on a shoot with these cute kiddos! Big thanks to everyone who participated in the workshop, and also to Jenny for lending us your cute kids! Be sure to “like” our facebook page for a chance to be a model in an upcoming workshop.

And a photo of our crew: Lisa, Shawna, me, Kristin, and Joe!

The Wallaces {Family}

Families , Kids, Posted on: Nov, 29

Meet the Wallace family. With two beautiful girls who are full of energy, we had such a fun time on their shoot. One of the coolest things about my job is meeting and talking with other moms about our kids. Michelle’s youngest daughter is really close in age to my son, so it was neat to see the differences between boys and girls at this stage! Our shoot was a little chilly but aside from the red noses, I don’t think the kiddos noticed. Maybe the pumpkin marshmallows helped. Did you know they make pumpkin shaped and flavored marshmallows? They’re so good. :) Enjoy the faves!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! Crazily, it’s now time to think ahead to Christmas, and more specifically Christmas cards. The deadline to order your Christmas cards is December 5th. We will design and finalize them in the week or so after that, and get them to you in time to send them out for Christmas! Custom Christmas cards are hot hot hot at GDP, and you should totally get some! :)

And because every post is more fun with a photo, here’s one I took while we were camping over Thanksgiving out in the country.

The Josts {Family}

I was so excited for this shoot, and despite the crazy weather, I wasn’t disappointed! Hillary wanted to do something different for their family photos, and they spend a lot of time out at Stearman Airfield. Her daughter is obsessed with airplanes, so Hillary pulled some strings and got them to let us take photos with one of the amazing planes! Our session was last Monday, just before the rain started, and during our shoot, the skies kept getting progressively darker. It began sprinkling just as we finished! I love it when my clients have awesome new ideas!

I love shooting in new locations, it makes me think on my toes. So I was really excited when Beth asked me to come out to their home for a family session. I shot Beth’s daughter’s wedding a few years ago, so it was fun to catch up with them and see their little boy as well. Little Baby L was such a trooper during our cold (it was in the 30s that day) shoot, not once did he protest being outside! We got some great shots of the family and their Airdale Bailey even joined us for a few. Here are the faves…

Many of you know, I recently moved my business back to my home after working at a downtown location for the past few years. I’m loving being back at home, and being able to spend more time with my family! We decided to make a really awesome space for me to work in, meet clients in, and even take indoor photos in. We were lucky enough to already have a separate building in our backyard that my husband had used as a shop since we moved here in 2008. I’m also lucky enough to have an amazing father-in-law, Ed, who knows how to make pretty much anything I could dream up.

We started with an unfinished space with concrete floors and nasty windows, and Ed was able to see my vision and transform it into the awesomeness that it is today! I’m so excited to finally share some photos with you of our finished studio! You have to make an appointment to come by and see it in person. I also hope to have an open house in the spring, so stay tuned!

The Sander Family

Meet the Sanders. Such a cute family, with a little one-year-old who reminded me so much of Sutton! He was such a perfect little model and looked right at my camera for most of our shoot. Probably the most well behaved little man ever…you know, aside from hating his shoes. :) And what a cutie-patootie of a sister to love on him! Here are my faves from our shoot!

One-on-One with Julie

Kids , Workshops, Posted on: Nov, 10

A few weeks ago, Julie came over for my first One-on-One workshop, and we had a great time! She learned a lot and asked a lot of great questions. It was fun to meet her and spend the day talking photography, eating brownies, and then finishing up with a real photo shoot. Julie takes photos mostly of her kids, so I was able to find some kid models for her via facebook. Speaking of which, be sure to “like” my facebook page because that’s where I ask for volunteers to model for my workshops and if you volunteer, you get all the edited photos from our shoot for free! Holy bananas.

And there’s Julie and me after our shoot. Thanks for hanging out with me Julie! It was a great day!

Lucky you! You get to see MORE photos of baby Ezra! :) This time, he’s accompanied by his awesome family, and his grandparents even make an appearance. The day we scheduled for their shoot was pretty gloomy, so we ended up doing an abbreviated version in the studio. Can’t believe how different Ezra looks since his last shoot that was only a couple weeks ago. And….big sister Avery loves my dog Diesel. She talks about him all the time. So she wanted him at the photo shoot. That was a first for me…doing photos while my dog kept creeping in the backgrounds. I put one photo at the end where you can see his cute face. I also had to throw a “baby spaz” photo in there at the end. You’ll know it when you see it. :)

The Parnells {Family}

Babies , Families , Kids, Posted on: Nov, 07

Last week I photographed the awesome Parnell family. Their oldest just happens to be my beautiful niece Bailey who just seems to get prettier every second. And her little brother is just a few months older than Sutton, so I get to see what’s in store for me with him. :) His mama gave me lots of epidural advice just before I had Sutton because that’s what she does for a living. Pretty cool. Little Cole wasn’t too into photos, but he WAS into his cool backpack, fruit snacks, and KEYS. Towards the end of our session, I finally figured out the secret that if he was playing with keys, he was smiling! Haha. Here are my faves from our session!
