Reminder {Wedding Pricing}
Engagements , GDP News , Weddings, Posted on: May, 15
This is just a reminder that wedding pricing will be going up this weekend. You must book your wedding before May 18, 2012 in order to reserve the low 2012 pricing. Questions? Comments? Fill out my contact form!
Update {2013}
GDP News, Posted on: May, 01
Just wanted to pop in to tell you all that prices will soon be going up a bit for 2013. Wedding packages and portrait prices will both be affected, so if you’ve been waiting to book either your 2013 wedding or any sort of portrait session, wait no more!
::Any weddings booked after May 18th, 2012 will be subject to the new prices (booking requires a deposit and signed contract).
::Any portrait sessions booked for 2013 will be subject to the new prices (so you have awhile to still get in on the 2012 pricing).
************************************************************************************************************************************************
Additionally, (and this is very important) many of you may have already noticed that I’m booked pretty far in advance. Currently, I have no portrait session times available til the end of July. I’ve had to cut back a lot on shooting since becoming a mom (I love both my jobs…mom and photographer, but being a mom will always win out!) You need to be aware of this because:
::Fall portrait sessions are being booked at lightning speed! Available spots will go quickly! If you’d like to have your engagement or family session this fall, call or email me today to ensure your spot.
::I’ve booked a lot of 2013 weddings already (June 2013 is already full!), so if you’re waiting to book me as your photographer…don’t!
Questions? Comments? Don’t hesitate to call or email. I hope to hear from you soon!
Tornadoes at a Wedding
GDP News , Misc , Personal , Weddings, Posted on: Apr, 15
We live in Kansas…so I guess it was inevitable.
Even so, I never dreamed the events of last night would really happen. But they did, and it was crazy, but pretty amazing at the same time.
Last night, I was photographing Katie and Chris’s gorgeous wedding in Salina (full wedding blog post will come soon). All day, we’d been battling wind and rain, and we’d heard that tornadoes might make an appearance in the evening. Katie and Chris were AWESOME and totally embraced the attitude of “We can’t do anything about it, so why freak out?” They were so calm and easy-going about it all.
Shortly after arriving at their reception, the DJ announced that there was a tornado headed our way and that we all needed to take shelter in the basement locker rooms and golf club cart storage rooms. All 200+ guests and vendors headed to the basement of the country club, where we proceeded to spend the next 40 minutes waiting it out. I took a photo of the bride and I while we were hunkered down, talking about how great this story will be for their kids.
Wasn’t Katie a beautiful bride?!
Everything passed very anti-climatically, and we were all so thankful. Dinner and dancing resumed, and everyone had an amazing time. Just as my time there came to an end, I received several texts and voicemails from my family telling me to get out of Salina now or to spend the night there. I chose to speed home.
After I’d been on the highway about an hour, surrounded by crazy fast winds and un-ending lightning, I found I was sandwiched in between storms, and there was a second one headed towards Salina, and one on the way to Wichita. I made sure my husband Adam and baby Sutton were safe in our basement and stopped midway between the storms in Newton, where I ended up having to stay the night to avoid driving straight into a tornado warning.
I heard reports that 80-90 tornadoes were confirmed in Kansas yesterday, with the biggest one touching down in Wichita. There was some damage, but thank God no one was killed. Salina inhabitants were lucky as well, and I got a couple texts from Katie saying her night was fantastic and everyone was there good.
Craziness…but definitely a night no one will ever forget!
20×40 Canvas {Client Share}
GDP News , Misc, Posted on: Jan, 28
Christina and Michael ordered one of their engagement photos as a 20×40 wrapped canvas, and when I got it in the mail…whew!…was I in awe! I told them (and it’s true!) I wanted to keep it for myself. Michael picked it up and hung it while his wife was at work so she could come home to the finished product up above their mantle. He was nice enough to share a photo with me of how it looks in it’s new home. Thanks Michael!!

Helloooooooooooooooo friends!
How is everyone holding up after the holidays? My belt got quite a bit tighter due to all the Christmas goodies, so…………I’m working on that.
I just wanted to update you all on portrait sessions for this spring and summer. I will be drastically limiting the number of sessions that I book each week since my 2012 wedding schedule is awesomely ridiculous. In order to keep my sanity and to be able to see my hubby and baby boy once in awhile, weekends are not available for portrait sessions, and week day sessions will be limited.
I’m already starting to book for spring and summer, so if you’d like to get on my calendar, please contact me today! Thanks so much for understanding…Happy 2012!
Do you think we can do it? Make it to 400 “likes” on our facebook page? Tell your friends to “like” our page (click on the link at the top that says facebook to see our page!), and once we get to 400, we’ll do a fun contest for a discounted session. You can only participate through facebook!

Many of you know, I recently moved my business back to my home after working at a downtown location for the past few years. I’m loving being back at home, and being able to spend more time with my family! We decided to make a really awesome space for me to work in, meet clients in, and even take indoor photos in. We were lucky enough to already have a separate building in our backyard that my husband had used as a shop since we moved here in 2008. I’m also lucky enough to have an amazing father-in-law, Ed, who knows how to make pretty much anything I could dream up.
We started with an unfinished space with concrete floors and nasty windows, and Ed was able to see my vision and transform it into the awesomeness that it is today! I’m so excited to finally share some photos with you of our finished studio! You have to make an appointment to come by and see it in person. I also hope to have an open house in the spring, so stay tuned!
