Helloooooooooooooooo friends!
How is everyone holding up after the holidays? My belt got quite a bit tighter due to all the Christmas goodies, so…………I’m working on that. 
I just wanted to update you all on portrait sessions for this spring and summer. I will be drastically limiting the number of sessions that I book each week since my 2012 wedding schedule is awesomely ridiculous. In order to keep my sanity and to be able to see my hubby and baby boy once in awhile, weekends are not available for portrait sessions, and week day sessions will be limited.
I’m already starting to book for spring and summer, so if you’d like to get on my calendar, please contact me today! Thanks so much for understanding…Happy 2012!
Ryan & Risa {5 Year Anniversary}

Ryan and Risa are some of our dearest friends. And we’ve been talking about this photo shoot about as long as we’ve known each other, so…4 years maybe? That’s a lot of pressure! Just kidding. These two are so beautiful that it was basically impossible to take bad photos of them. We got together on their 5 year anniversary for a fun photo shoot in the middle of their date day. I think that’s a fantastic way to spend your anniversary. We plan to do more in the spring, but I have to admit we had pretty great weather for late December. Congrats on 5 years you two! Love you!

The Weil Twins {Family}

I believe this was a first for me, photographing twins! And I don’t think there could be anything cuter. I made a trip up to KC last weekend to visit my friend Rachael, and while I was there, I had the privilege of meeting and shooting these two. Their mama Katie is a friend of Rachael’s, and we hadn’t seen each other since we were bridesmaids in her wedding 3 years ago. That was pre-baby life for both of us. It was fun to catch up and snap a few of this fun stage of 6 months old! (Warning…there is a little ridiculous narrating below that had to be done.)

Meet the Wallace family. With two beautiful girls who are full of energy, we had such a fun time on their shoot. One of the coolest things about my job is meeting and talking with other moms about our kids. Michelle’s youngest daughter is really close in age to my son, so it was neat to see the differences between boys and girls at this stage! Our shoot was a little chilly but aside from the red noses, I don’t think the kiddos noticed. Maybe the pumpkin marshmallows helped. Did you know they make pumpkin shaped and flavored marshmallows? They’re so good. Enjoy the faves!
Christmas Card Deadline

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! Crazily, it’s now time to think ahead to Christmas, and more specifically Christmas cards. The deadline to order your Christmas cards is December 5th. We will design and finalize them in the week or so after that, and get them to you in time to send them out for Christmas! Custom Christmas cards are hot hot hot at GDP, and you should totally get some!
And because every post is more fun with a photo, here’s one I took while we were camping over Thanksgiving out in the country.

I was so excited for this shoot, and despite the crazy weather, I wasn’t disappointed! Hillary wanted to do something different for their family photos, and they spend a lot of time out at Stearman Airfield. Her daughter is obsessed with airplanes, so Hillary pulled some strings and got them to let us take photos with one of the amazing planes! Our session was last Monday, just before the rain started, and during our shoot, the skies kept getting progressively darker. It began sprinkling just as we finished! I love it when my clients have awesome new ideas!

I love shooting in new locations, it makes me think on my toes. So I was really excited when Beth asked me to come out to their home for a family session. I shot Beth’s daughter’s wedding a few years ago, so it was fun to catch up with them and see their little boy as well. Little Baby L was such a trooper during our cold (it was in the 30s that day) shoot, not once did he protest being outside! We got some great shots of the family and their Airdale Bailey even joined us for a few. Here are the faves…
The Studio

Many of you know, I recently moved my business back to my home after working at a downtown location for the past few years. I’m loving being back at home, and being able to spend more time with my family! We decided to make a really awesome space for me to work in, meet clients in, and even take indoor photos in. We were lucky enough to already have a separate building in our backyard that my husband had used as a shop since we moved here in 2008. I’m also lucky enough to have an amazing father-in-law, Ed, who knows how to make pretty much anything I could dream up.
We started with an unfinished space with concrete floors and nasty windows, and Ed was able to see my vision and transform it into the awesomeness that it is today! I’m so excited to finally share some photos with you of our finished studio! You have to make an appointment to come by and see it in person. I also hope to have an open house in the spring, so stay tuned!
The Browns {Family}

Jen and I have known each other since back in 6th grade when she was Jenny. We wrote lots of notes in math class in neon colored pens. I think pig latin may have been involved. We went to different schools after that and lost touch, but I was so excited when she contacted me a few years ago to tell me she was engaged and that she wanted me to photograph her wedding. The wedding was wonderful and since then, I’ve gotten to know Ruse, and he’s such a great guy! We all go to the same church now, and I love being able to catch up with these two every now and then. We had a fabulous time at their shoot that we’ve been trying to schedule for 2 years but have had to keep rescheduling for various reasons. Finally Jen! We have some pretty pictures of you!
